MACHINING

In roller chains, pins and rollers are critical components in terms of load-handling capacity and functionality. Precision machining plays a vital role in the production of these parts. At Zimaş, we employ advanced machining processes such as turning, drilling, grinding, gear cutting, chamfering, and thread cutting, ensuring that each part meets the highest precision standards and fulfills customer requirements.

Our machining facility is equipped with 9 CNC lathes, 3 CNC milling machines, 2 centerless grinders, 2 CNC saws, and 2 length finishing and chamfering machines. This state-of-the-art machinery allows us to consistently produce efficient, high-quality chain components that meet and exceed customer expectations.

HEAT TREATMENT

Our 1,350 m² heat treatment facility offers an extensive range of heat treatment capabilities. With an annual capacity exceeding 5,000 tons, the facility is equipped with 3 Ipsen Atmosphere-Controlled Furnaces, 5 Aichelin Rotary Furnaces, Aichelin Continuous Isothermal Annealing Furnaces, Nitrex Nitriding Furnaces, Steremat Induction Benches, and Ony Atmosphere-Controlled Continuous Hardening Furnaces. The processes conducted include Tempering, Case Hardening, Isothermal Annealing, Induction Hardening, Stress Relieving, Carbonitriding, Nitriding, and Nitrocarburization. In addition to providing heat treatments for a wide variety of chain components, our facility also performs heat treatments for Topçesan hot forging parts and nitriding proceses for hot forging molds.

In our facilities, which feature two in-house laboratories, conduct Rockwell, Brinell, and Vickers hardness measurements, chemical analyses of steels, macro-microstructure examinations, and internal structure inspections of steel. The strength tests for chain and forging parts are conducted using vertical and horizontal tensile testing devices, with detailed reports provided to our customers in compliance with the IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems. Additionally, the CQI-9 heat treatment process evaluation standard is rigorously inspected by our quality unit.

MOLDING

Once the projects shared by our engineering team are approved by the customer, we proceed with the design of press molds, machining tools, assembly fixtures, and welding fixtures. These are meticulously crafted by our skilled molding expertises, operating within the Zimaş facility.

Our machine park, equipped with CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, universal lathes, milling machines, wire erosion machines, and precision grinding tools, enables us to manufacture highly complex molds, tools, and fixtures. Each mold is cataloged in our extensive mold archive, which currently houses over 3,500 unique chain molds, ensuring efficient storage and accessibility based on their specific characteristics.

ASSEMBLY

Zimaş operates an integrated production facility specializing in industrial power transmission systems, backed by half a century of experience in chain manufacturing. A key aspect of this process, from raw material intake to customer delivery, is precision assembly manufacturing. In response to customer-specific requests, our engineering team designs custom chains, which are then assembled to precise dimensions through close collaboration between customer and supplier. This process is carried out on fully automated machines, as well as through detailed procedures including welding, pressing, rubber coating, and skilled manual workmanship.

Heat-treated links, bushings, rollers, and pins are initially stored in our semi-finished product warehouses. Upon receiving a work order, these semi-finished components are assembled into finished chains in the fully automated assembly lines at Zimaş Chain’s Assembly Unit. After assembly, the chains undergo lubrication and are packaged with a specially formulated anti-rust oil, ensuring protection against corrosion following pre-stretching and the necessary quality controls.

ENGINEERING AND R&D

Zimaş provides direct, durable solutions to customers, leveraging over 50 years of expertise that has been standardized into our processes. This begins with the submission of samples or technical drawings accompanying the customer’s request for a quotation and continues with the validation of the proposed solution by our engineering team. During this phase, customer challenges are evaluated from a technical perspective, and chain designs are finalized after performing the necessary mechanical tests.

Our engineering team ensures that every solution presented to the customer incorporates both high-quality standards and efficient production methods. Once the customer approves the proposed project, all sub-components, process design, formulations, mold designs, and control equipment are developed by our highly qualified engineering staff, with a focus on ensuring superior quality and production efficiency.
